A trending post described a lady who rudely dismissed a man for not offering to pay for her food after she voluntarily gave him her number. When she later discovered he lived abroad, her tone suddenly changed. While many agreed her behaviour was entitled, one commenter suggested an even more troubling response: the man should take her on a date, let her order freely, pay only for himself, and then walk out.

This advice promotes calculated humiliation, not accountability. Two wrongs do not create fairness. Encouraging someone to deceive another into an embarrassing situation contributes to a toxic dating environment where spite replaces communication.

If someone behaves poorly, the appropriate response is distance—not orchestrating revenge to “teach a lesson.” Normalizing emotional punishment only fuels more resentment, manipulation, and unhealthy power plays in relationships.
