After the NDLEA arrested a mother and son for dealing in cannabis, one shocking comment from a lady read: “Jesus, help me. Why am I actually impressed?” This reaction glamorizes crime instead of condemning it. Being “impressed” by someone breaking the law, especially in drug trafficking, normalizes destructive behavior and downplays its impact on society. Cannabis trade in Nigeria fuels addiction, crime, and broken families. There’s nothing admirable about it. While it’s okay to empathize with poverty-driven choices, glorifying crime sends the wrong message. We should encourage legal hustles and resilience, not celebrate actions that destroy lives and communities.
