After a disturbing video of a man threatening to kill non-Muslims who refuse to join Islam or pay tax, emotions ran high online. But one user crossed a line by commenting, “Demonic religion, God forbid.”
It’s understandable to feel anger toward the violent message in the video — it’s inhumane and un-Islamic. But labeling an entire religion “demonic” because of one extremist’s actions spreads more hate than healing.
Islam, like other faiths, is practiced peacefully by millions who reject violence. The true enemy is extremism, not religion itself.
We must learn to separate wicked individuals from the belief systems they misuse. Hate speech only fuels the same division we claim to oppose.
Condemn terrorism, not faith.
