The shocking story of a landlord’s daughter and a male tenant arrested for allegedly raping and murdering their female neighbour understandably stirred outrage online. However, one user’s reaction crossed an ethical line, stating, “Omo dem suppose do jungle justice for the lady and the guy.”
While anger over such a gruesome act is natural, advocating jungle justice is never the right response. It promotes lawlessness and undermines the justice system. Many innocent people have lost their lives to mob action based on assumptions or misinformation. The best approach is to allow the law to take its full course, ensuring that those found guilty face appropriate punishment. Justice should always be served through legal means — not by taking the law into our own hands.
