A lawmaker was recently arrested after a video surfaced showing him assaulting a delivery man for refusing to enter his home, labeling the delivery man as rude. While many supported the arrest, one comment read, “I don’t support this. How will a police arrest a lawmaker?” suggesting that the man should not be arrested because of his position.
This mindset reflects a dangerous misconception that public officials are exempt from accountability. However, being a lawmaker does not place anyone above the law. True leadership demands responsibility and respect for others, regardless of rank. Justice must apply equally to everyone to foster trust in governance and societal fairness.
