A post (reportedly) showing Governor Alex Otti criticising Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the demolition of Igbo-owned properties at the Lagos Trade Fair sparked heated debate. One user then wrote: “Let’s pursue the Yorubas here,” calling for Yoruba people to be chased from Igbo land.
This comment is dangerous and unlawful. It openly incites ethnic violence and collective punishment — a quick route to chaos, revenge, and more human suffering. Responding to alleged injustice with calls to expel or attack whole communities only deepens divisions and undermines the rule of law. The right response is legal action, peaceful protest, and political pressure for accountability and protection of property rights — not ethnic vigilantism.
