A man recently advised teenagers from poor families to avoid early pregnancy, pointing out how its consequences differ greatly for the rich and the poor. While the point was debatable, one troubling comment took it further, stating: “Very true. Don’t even fall in love as you have no business with such deceit.” This is misleading. Love itself is not deceitful; it is the choices people make that determine outcomes. Discouraging young people from love entirely only fuels bitterness and fear. What we should promote instead is responsibility, self-control, and guidance—so that love is expressed in healthy, wise ways.
