After reports surfaced of a naval officer resisting FCT Minister Nyesom Wike from accessing a property marked for seizure in Abuja, reactions quickly filled social media. While many debated whether the officer was right or wrong, one man exaggerated the incident by calling it a “COUP D’ETAT.”
That statement is completely misplaced. The officer wasn’t attempting to overthrow the government — he was following military protocol and the rule of law, ensuring proper authority and documentation before compliance. Throwing around words like “coup” carelessly not only misleads the public but also disrespects Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
Red flag 🚩: When exaggeration replaces understanding, even lawful actions start looking like rebellion.
