Actor and comedian Ime Bishop Umoh praised the Nigerian government for supporting D’tigress and the Super Falcons, while also highlighting the urgent need to improve the welfare of military personnel. However, one comment took a troubling turn, stating, “I’m even hearing police?? Military? No no no, they don’t deserve that,” citing a negative experience with a corrupt officer.
While bad encounters with security personnel are sadly common, using one experience to condemn an entire force is unfair and short-sighted. There are countless dedicated and selfless officers who risk their lives daily to protect the nation. Blanket condemnation ignores their sacrifices and devalues their service. Constructive criticism is valid—but it must not erase the good with the bad.
