After @MFaaarees_ posted “SHARIA LAW STAYS IN NIGERIA! IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT, YOU CAN LEAVE!!!”, a reply escalated the rhetoric: “Em, it’s simple, divide the country, so you guys can kill each other like you’re already doing in Sudan! possessed children of the devil.”
That comment is dangerous and irresponsible. It paints an entire faith with violence, invites division, and fuels the very hatred that tears communities apart. Not all Muslims support imposing Sharia, and not all critics of Sharia are enemies of Islam — sweeping generalisations only deepen mistrust. Nigeria’s stability depends on calm, fact-based dialogue and respect for constitutional rights, not calls for partition or violence. Responsible voices should condemn both coercive demands and incendiary replies, and push instead for peaceful debate, protection of minorities, and the rule of law.
