After news broke of a Nigerian man sentenced to 10 years in India for drug trafficking, the discussion sadly shifted to tribal insults. One user wrote: “From his look, you will know that he’s a Biafra man.” This statement reflects deep-rooted bias rather than concern for the actual crime. Judging guilt or behavior based on tribe is unfair and fuels unnecessary division. Not every criminal represents their ethnic group—people act as individuals. Comments like these only normalize prejudice against Igbos and distract from the real issue: combating crime. Tribalism weakens unity; fairness and objectivity should guide our conversations.
