Following the arrest of a 44-year-old man in the U.S. who disguised himself as a woman to secretly film females in a gym bathroom, one comment read, “Just tell me he’s a Nigerian man.”

This statement is both insensitive and prejudiced. Rather than focusing on the disturbing nature of the crime — a clear case of invasion of privacy and sexual misconduct — the commenter chose to stereotype Nigerians as being capable of such immoral acts. This kind of generalization unfairly labels millions of innocent people and fuels harmful narratives about the country. Crime has no nationality; it should be condemned based on the individual responsible, not used to insult or shame an entire nation.
