A user, defending the Igbo community, wrote, “Why are you guys afraid of Igbos? These people are nice to live with and without them there is no Lagos, this is just the fact.” While it might have been intended as support, saying “there is no Lagos without the Igbos” can fuel unnecessary tribal division.
Lagos is a city built through the contributions of many — Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and others. Statements that elevate one tribe over another can quickly turn dialogue into rivalry. The focus should be on unity and mutual respect, not competition or ownership. Supporting peace means appreciating every group’s effort while reminding everyone that Nigeria’s progress depends on collaboration, not superiority.
