VeryDarkMan’s initiative to start an NGO aimed at improving teachers’ pay and transforming public education is a commendable step toward addressing a critical issue in Nigeria. However, a discouraging comment under the post—”Forget this talk, nothing works in Nigeria and nothing will ever work”—reflects a deeply pessimistic mindset that threatens progress.
While it’s understandable that people may feel frustrated by systemic challenges, dismissing efforts for positive change only feeds a cycle of hopelessness. Such negativity discourages innovators and leaders from taking meaningful action. For real transformation, we must move beyond cynicism and embrace optimism, however small the steps may seem. Change begins with those bold enough to believe in it.
