A disturbing video circulating on X this morning showed an adult man marrying a child, igniting widespread outrage online. While many users rightly condemned the act, one comment attempted to normalize it, stating, “Honestly I see nothing wrong here this is completely normal.” That mindset is dangerous and unacceptable.
Child marriage is a violation of fundamental human rights. It robs children, especially girls, of education, health, autonomy, and childhood. Normalizing such abuse under the guise of culture or tradition only protects perpetrators and silences victims. Societies progress by protecting the vulnerable, not exploiting them. There is nothing normal about forcing a child into marriage with an adult. Any ideology that excuses this practice must be challenged and rejected.
