When artist Omah Lay poured out his heart about losing his mind and seeking God’s help, many expected compassion. Sadly, some dismissed his pain. One comment read: “Rest Oga, nobi only you dey go through things.” This reflects a dangerous mindset—minimizing someone’s struggles because others also suffer. Pain is not a competition; each person’s mental health battle is real and valid. Dismissing cries for help only pushes people further into silence and despair. Instead of downplaying struggles, we should encourage openness, extend empathy, and remind one another that vulnerability is strength, not weakness. Compassion saves more than criticism ever will.
