The arrest of a 15-year-old girl in Ondo for allegedly poisoning her friend’s food with sniper shocked many. While most condemned the act, one comment unfairly generalized: “I fear Ogun State people pass my enemy.” Such statements perpetuate harmful stereotypes, stigmatizing an entire community based on one individual’s actions. Instead of resorting to divisive expression, we must focus on addressing the root causes of such incidents—be it mental health, peer pressure, or societal influence.
