Following Peter Obi’s statement that Yahoo Boys are geniuses who need rehabilitation, not condemnation, another disturbing comment surfaced: “Even ritualists need to be pampered and be mentored aright, it’s not easy.” This shocking remark dangerously extends sympathy to violent criminals, trivializing the horror of ritual killings. While rehabilitation is vital for non-violent offenders, equating ritualists—who take lives—with those needing mentorship is deeply insensitive. Crime shouldn’t be excused under the pretense of “understanding.” Society must draw clear moral lines: compassion for change should never mean tolerance for evil.
