A man shared a post about losing his 2-year-old catfish, a massive 6kg fish he had raised in his pond. While he was clearly disappointed and looking for reasons behind its sudden death, one user dropped an insensitive and careless comment: “Na to sell am as peppersoup sharp sharp ooo.”
This kind of response is not only dismissive of the man’s loss but also dangerously irresponsible. Selling a fish without knowing what killed it is a serious health risk. Fish can die from infections, water contamination, poisoning, or parasites—any of which can make the meat unsafe for human consumption. Encouraging someone to sell such a fish just to make quick money puts unsuspecting buyers at risk and completely ignores basic food safety.
Instead of promoting unsafe behaviour, people should advise the owner to investigate the cause, dispose of the fish properly, and take steps to protect the rest of the pond.
