In response to the tragic news of a police officer in Nasarawa taking his own life, one disturbing comment read, “Thank God say na him self, if others go dey do like this.” This statement is highly insensitive and dehumanizing. Suicide is not something to celebrate, regardless of the individual involved.
Every life matters, and rather than making light of such tragedies, society should focus on addressing the root causes—mental health struggles, job pressures, and systemic issues. Instead of promoting harmful rhetoric, we should advocate for better support systems, ensuring people in distress receive the help they need.
