After the news broke that Chukwudi Nwachukwu, a notorious human trafficker, had been sentenced to 10 years in prison with hard labour for trafficking over 20 Nigerian girls aged 15 to 18 into Ghana for prostitution, the comments section took a tribal turn. One disturbing comment read, “Must be ibo. Must be !!!!”

This remark reflects deep-seated tribal bias and prejudice. Instead of condemning the criminal act itself, the user chose to stereotype and stigmatize an entire ethnic group based on one person’s crime. Such comments promote hate, foster division, and distract from the seriousness of the issue — the need to strengthen justice systems and protect vulnerable young girls from human traffickers.
