A divisive claim surfaced online where one user wrote: “Ibos and South-South people don’t like each other, the only thing that unites them is their hatred for Yoruba.” This kind of comment is harmful because it promotes tribalism and fuels unnecessary tension between ethnic groups. Nigeria is already a diverse nation with complex cultural dynamics, and spreading such generalizations only deepens division. Communities should be encouraged to seek unity, mutual respect, and understanding—not hostility. Stereotyping entire groups as being bound together by hate does nothing but breed mistrust and conflict among people who should coexist peacefully.
