The comment “The north just keeps vomiting difficult kinds of problems every day” in response to the news of the emergence of a new terrorist group, Lukarawas, in southwest Nigeria, is both divisive and unhelpful. It unfairly places blame on an entire region for the actions of a few individuals, which only fuels regional tension and misunderstanding.

Such sweeping generalizations not only stigmatize an entire group of people but also distract from addressing the real issue at hand—national security and the rise of terrorism. The focus should be on uniting as a nation to combat these threats, rather than pointing fingers at one another. A constructive dialogue and cooperation are needed to tackle these challenges effectively.
