A video showing a Yoruba man aggressively holding a plank and attempting to fight drew widespread attention online. While many expressed concern about his behavior, one user instead responded with a stereotypical remark, “Yoruba and noise na 5 & 6.”
This comment unfairly generalizes an entire ethnic group based on one individual’s conduct. It turns an isolated incident into a cultural insult, reinforcing harmful stereotypes that portray Yoruba people as loud or troublesome. Such remarks fuel ethnic bias and deepen social divides rather than addressing the real issue — the individual’s aggression. Stereotyping any tribe based on a single act only promotes ignorance and disunity.
