Following the UN’s report ranking Nigeria lowest in life expectancy, social media saw a wave of reactions. While many questioned the ranking’s accuracy, others expressed frustration about the country’s situation. However, one user crossed the line, stating: “Nigerians are stupid, they only argue about tribe, owambe, soup, religion, defending politicians, and they joke about everything.”
This comment is unnecessarily insulting. While it’s valid to criticize certain social behaviors or misplaced priorities, insulting Nigerians as a whole is unfair and counterproductive. Constructive criticism should aim to inspire change, not degrade an entire population. Nigeria’s challenges won’t be solved by insults but by honest dialogue, education, and collective responsibility.
