On the post where Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, explained why Comfort Emmanson was remanded in Kirikiri prison, one very insensitive comment read, “Big men go knack clean mouth,” meaning wealthy men will have sex with her and leave. This crude remark is completely unrelated to the topic at hand and reduces a serious legal matter to a sexual joke. It is disrespectful, objectifies the woman involved, and trivializes the discussion. Such comments not only derail meaningful conversation but also promote a culture of sexism and online harassment, where women are demeaned regardless of the actual issue being discussed.
