“Most women are not married to the men they love, they are married to the men who are available, capable and ready to settle down.”
This statement may sound like a realistic observation, but it’s a broad generalization that fuels cynicism toward marriage. While factors like timing, stability, and readiness do play roles in choosing a partner, it’s unfair to suggest that most women marry without love. Relationships are complex, and for many couples, emotional connection grows alongside practical considerations. By framing marriage as purely opportunistic, we risk undermining genuine partnerships. Instead of pushing mistrust, the conversation should highlight the importance of compatibility, shared values, and mutual affection — because readiness and love can, and often do, exist together.
